Why women empowerment still lacks even in 21st Century?

In our country, ‘Goddess Durga’ is the symbol of Women Empowerment, encourage, and strength. It’s been more than seventy years since we are free from the clutches of British rule in India. Are ‘we’ really independent? Do our women feel the freedom, freedom from the barbarity against them? Do we have freedom from caste discrimination, violence? Have we got the freedom from the corruption?

‘Violence against women’ is increasing rapidly. Rape, female feticide, acid attacks, domestic violence, dowry deaths, honor killings, forced abortion, human trafficking, sexual violence, forced prostitution and the lists are never ending.

Women development‘ has become the movement but in our India, it only seems a distant dream. It is the process of treating the women with the same status with that of men in all the sectors of the society. Now they face the basic problem is that of education, poverty and safety and health, and empowerment.

What do we understand the meaning of ‘Women empowerment’? ‘Women empowerment’ it’s literary means that they get equal opportunities to participate every sector including the cultural, social, economic and political systems of our society. Still, the gender bias and beliefs are playing as the major obstacles to the growth of women empowerment in our country.

Now, it’s time to get united for developing the women, developing the nation.

We Turnstone Global eminent social organization in Kolkata have worked with leading corporates for ‘empowering the women’ for many years. With a focus on large scale creation of sustainable livelihoods, we are using various skilling and training programs to convert unproductive, unskilled Women into abled entrepreneurs and skilled ’employees’. During this puja, we are announcing our new project ‘Ullas’ to upscale the proper shape of ‘Women Empowerment. This project ‘ULLAS’ is launching on 18th September at MahajatiSadan, Kolkata. Our project ‘ULLAS’ aims to empower deprived women in the age group of 18-40 years from the marginalized section of society by giving the professional skill development. We wish to train fifty-thousand women in next five years and make them stand on their own feet. Our training programs are designed including the various short-term modular courses like Beauty & Wellness, Telecom, Information technology, Retail management, and Hospitality management and so on.

The aim of ‘ULLAS’ Project is to bring a substantial change in the living standards of women and girls by equipping them with skills which will lead to their economic independence.
